Suggested Trip
Staying
in a villager’s home at Ta Kha Floating Market is perhaps the best way to
experience Thai hospitality.
DAY
1
Transfer by air-con car with guide to Ta Kha village,
Samut Sonkhram province. Your host will take you for a walk
through coconut orchards to the teakwood house where you will
stay. You may paddle small boats on the canals, meet other villagers,
and on weekends observe the market where villagers sell their
produce from boats in the canal.
DAY 2
Join
the host to offer food to monks who row small boats along the canal to let
people make merit. After breakfast, learn the process of making coconut sugar
and try it yourself. In the afternoon, go by boat to see other aspects of
village life, such as boat-repair and knife-making, and a variety of
handicrafts made from coconuts. Return to Bangkok.
Note: This program may vary somewhat depending on
availability of various villagers to spend time with you. It
can be shortened to two days/one night, and organized as a self-drive
trip.
